Here at yulife, we’re always trying to find new friends who share our vision. That’s why we were so excited to meet Ella Mills, the founder of Deliciously Ella. Together with Ella, we will be working to help companies and their people live their best lives.

Ella is a major force in the wellbeing world, who built her community of 2.5 million readers with the goal of making vegetables cool. As a champion of plant-based living - and now a best-selling author - Ella always supports small changes to our lives that will not only help us become healthier, but also sustainably healthier.

“I realised all these negative preconceptions I had around healthy eating, that it was all kind of ‘rabbit food’, and like I’d be eating grated carrot forever, actually turned out not to be true,” Ella explains. “We really want to change the ways that people look at healthy eating, and that’s why I’m excited to work with yulife, because healthy eating is healthy living, and these things tie in so closely together. It has to be fun, it has to be easy, it has to be doable, it has to be accessible, and that’s what we’re so passionate about - and that’s what yulife are obviously so passionate about”.

In celebration of our partnership, we’ve hosted an exclusive event at Deliciously Ella’s Deli. As well as a yummy breakfast, Ella joined us and an audience of HR decision makers t for a nice chat and Q&A with Sammy Rubin, yulife’s CEO and founder. They discussed their journey into the wellbeing world and shared tips on how businesses can take better care of their employees’ wellbeing, taking into account the new wellbeing trends in London.

“I’m a massive believer in that sense of mission, in that sense of ‘why’,” Ella encourages employers to inform their employees. “When you know why you’re doing something or why it matters, you want to do it. When someone just says to you, ‘eat your vegetables’, but why? Why? You don’t like them. You don’t want them. The more you understand why you’re doing it, the more you want to do it. So the more information we have access to, the more powerful I think that is to drive us to better ourselves”.

It’s important to keep things simple. “We went from niche, strange thing in a box, which wasn’t great, because we weren’t eating well because these things were very uncool, and now we went to this kind of explosion of healthy eating,” Ella says. “But that at some point became confusing as well. It felt like maybe it was all or nothing, maybe you needed to be having these green powders, these complicated things. I think now it’s moving from a sensationalised fad into being more normal. I think we’re moving towards simply a conscious way of living. “

It was great to see Ella support holistic wellbeing, which supports the yulife wellbeing philosophy. “There’s such a glorification of the stress. We’ve seen that a lot. The more stressed you are, the more successful you are,” Ella talks about her experience as a business owner herself. “But it’s about realising that the issues don’t get better when you’re more stressed. And so actually, you don’t need to hold on to that as a badge of honour, you’re going to be more successful if you’re calm”.
